Background Information: Let me tell you a story.
Per the wiki link above not much is given on his pre-canon history, safe to assume he had a normal Japanese upbringing, living with both his parents and his younger sister. He found basketball and his love was born. In middle school, his team was defeated by Teiko and he was devastated. At this point even though he "retired" he continued to practice. He joined the Shutoku basketball club with the intent to take down none other than Midorima Shintarou. In a twist of fate that certainly amused Takao because he is Takao and life can be amusing and twisted all at once. That same guy was standing there in front of him as his teammate. He figures revenge is pointless at that point and instead began to work hard to make Midorima recognize him. He stuck to the shooter like glue, at first not thinking of themselves as friends but as they go along, practicing long hours together, playing games, and Takao in general just invading Midorima's life and calling him Shin-chan, they become best friends and kick-ass basketball partners on the court. They play some games, they win some, they lose some, and by the time they get through it, they are compared as the light and shadow of Shutoku by Hyuuga Junpei. As well as bonding with their upperclassmen and Shutoku is a closer team than when they started with Takao looking up to their older teammates who pick them up during their tougher times. Thus, ends the story of how Takao turned into a delivery boy with a basketball addiction.

Personality:
First and foremost, Takao always thought basketball was fun but when he began playing with Shutoku his honest love began. He enjoys working with all the guys as a team and is particularly proud of himself and his ability to pass to Midorima. He is dedicated to that position on the court and works hard day in and day out to keep it. Running passes hundred of times, repeatedly, until they have the right, he is able to make multiple high-risk, impossible-for-any-other-pair passes such as the Sky Direct in a row. Takao is possessive of this position, while the instance is after his canon point in the Last Game he is not happy about Akashi and Midorima doing the Sky Direct 3P shot. That is a move he and Midorima created together and to Takao that is his pass to make, no one else should be performing the play with Midorima but him. He is not laid-back about his position on the court and the way they play together. He is territorial about it and not afraid to show it, he is the hawkeye to that shot and will not give it up without a serious fight. This showcases that while a laid back guy, he does have a strong work ethic and is not afraid to put in a hundred percent of his blood, sweat, and tears for something he wants.

His cocky side shows the most on the court with laces of it coming through off. When he is in the game, he tends to trade barbs with opponents or get cocksure because he believes that much in the guys he is playing with. He knows he is good at what he does, he knows his hawk eye is impressive and Takao Kazunari feels no need to hide either of those facts; he embraces them and wears them as a badge of honor. It is seen in all his games but most sharply against Kuroko who uses his misdirection to make impossible passes. Takao is competitive with Kuroko, telling him that "Passing is their bread and butter". Stating that must be why he kind of "hates" Kuroko because they are alike. He is determined to prove that while similar, he is superior. He is an aggressive player on the court, finding satisfaction in knocking his opponents down by stopping their plays with his plays. He goes all out and isn't afraid to be in a player's face to make a move or win a game.

As serious as he can get on the court off it, he is laid back, enjoying anything he finds interesting. Be it Midorima giving advice and help in his awkward I don’t social way while Takao crouches in the bushes to taking Midorima’s lucky item and holding it hostage till he got out of the cart to play basketball with his middle school team. He enjoys teasing people, saying things he knows will embarrass others, or making Midorima uncomfortable who, as his closest friend, is often the target of his mischief (more on that later). He is a bit like the phrase “do not threaten me with a good time.” Sure it may seem a little crazy but if it looks like something interesting could happen, he is there. Outgoing enough and embracing his life, he will talk to people he barely recognizes and makes friends with the most unlikely of people such as an opposing team. Takao also lacks respect for personal boundaries. Seen when he throws an arm around Kuroko who he just met. Steals Midorima's lucky items or just invades his space because he can. Another example is how he will eavesdrop on situations and conversations if he thinks they may amuse him, instead of respecting the privacy of the other parties. He also has a streak that enjoys laughing at and teasing his friends for their habits such as lucky items, crushes on idols, or any other habit he can get his hands on to work with that he finds funny.

There is more to him though. Under the happy-go-lucky, let-us-see-what-pot-I-can-stir-today's personality is a big-hearted guy whose observation skills allow him to see what people want to hide. It is how he made friends with a moody, spoiled brat like Midorima Shintarou; persistence was his weapon when he realized a lot of what made the guy weird also made him amazing and interesting. It also makes him fun to pick on because Takao feels his friend can be set in his ways and does not always make the best decisions like trying to avoid friends. So, he will use his teasing, playful buddy nature to trick his friend into doing what he knows he wants to do and what is best for him. This will surely apply to all his friendships on some level, but Midorima is his best friend and canon example of this part of his personality. He will also butt in when his friend tries to be stoic, pointing out his true motives, thus showing his observation skill and his desire to help Midorima reconnect with Kuroko and the other Teiko players, something only a loyal friend would bother with. So yes he teases for fun but there are times where Takao will tease a friend to get them around to doing something they may be trying to avoid or point out to another person what they are not able to express themselves. It can sound as if Takao is always patient when saying he is always there for Midorima and a laid-back guy, that is a lie. Takao can be impatient and will snap back at the other when he is out of line. Or when Takao has had enough with his bullheadedness. He is not a timid person, he speaks his mind. Does he sometimes do it on a subtle note, sure. But he will push back when he has had enough and he will get his point across.

Appearance:

Abilities: Basketball Junkie

He has no superpowers to speak of, but he does have his Hawk-Eye ability. This is a visual range that allows him to see the entire court, meaning he can see behind, in front, to the side, there is nowhere outside of his range of sight. This is a skill that he possesses on and off the court, shown when he is able to see Kuroko the "invisible man" coming from behind him while he is washing his hands. There is no such thing as sneaking up on Takao, he will see a person coming as soon as they are in the range of his eyesight, giving him time to know they are coming. He has been known to use the skill off the court to help Midorima with things such as crane games, showing again that his ability is not confined to the basketball court. When dealing with Takao it's best to think he always has an eye on the situation, because thanks to his Hawk-Eye, he does.

He can perform some high-performance passes with Midorima such as the Sky Direct where he can get the ball into Midorima’s hand after the other is already set up for his shot, passing the ball behind his back, being able to see the whole court and verify the position of all players, those are listed in his wiki and will apply when or if he plays games with the other player. He is a kick-ass point guard who makes a good shadow for a kick-ass three-point shooter. And he loves basketball more than anything, so his skills all come from hard practice. He is skilled enough to be asked as an alternate for team Vorpal swords at the Last Game which comes after his canon point against an American basketball team that are beasts on and off the court.

His best subject in school is English, having been shown to be proficient in English grammar. He also laughs periodically about Midorima being unable to cook so it would seem he has some ability to cook for himself, a decent skill to have. Takao's special skill is listed as backflips.

Physical Contact: Go for it, hugs, arms around shoulders, handshakes, high fives, pats on the back these sorts of things are good no matter the level of CR or where the thread is. Kissing, cuddling general fluffy snogging if the thread is there let's roll. Smut, yes, I will write it, I do ask for established CR as he is not a casual sex type personality, it does not have to be a relationship, he would do FWB I believe but he would not be FWB with a bunch of people, he still has some loyalty into him, just laid back enough to not need a label.
